Message of the 27th AFID Conference
27th Conference of the Asian Federation on Intellectual Disabilities (AFID)
Equity, Participation, and Well-being form the core of the 27th AFID Conference theme.
Equity ensures that every individual—regardless of race, gender, disability, or social status—has an equal opportunity to reach their full potential.
Participation means actively engaging in community life and decision-making processes that shape one’s own future.
Well-being comes from feeling valued, connected, and empowered within a supportive environment.
Equity lays the foundation for participation and well-being. When individuals have access to fair opportunities, they are empowered to contribute meaningfully to their communities. This engagement, in turn, fosters a sense of belonging and personal fulfillment.
Together, these three principles create a virtuous cycle: promoting equity leads to greater participation; participation enhances well-being; and well-being reinforces the drive for equity.
Grounded in the human rights principles outlined by the United Nations, the 27th Conference of the Asian Federation on Intellectual Disabilities (AFID) proudly embraces Equity, Participation, and Well-being as its central theme.
This year, we warmly invite you to join us in Taipei to explore, exchange, and advocate for a more inclusive future for all.
